Dash of Sesame Oil
Tau Cheo (Salted Soy Bean)
Sugar
Chinese Celery

Steps :
1) Soak the dried cuttlefish in water for 15 minutes and rinse clean. Dry with kitchen towel if it is still wet.
2) Blanch pork belly briefly in boiling water. Diced it small (discard the skin) and set aside.
3) Shred finely the Bangkwang, Carrot into long strips. Soak the mushroom, wash and cut off the hard stem and slice into strips.
4) Heat oil in a large wok.
5) Saute Garlic briefly.
6) Fry the cuttlefish till it is dry and becomes aromatic.
7) Then fry the diced pork, adding tao cheo and the chinese mushroom. Follow up with turnip, carrot and Chinese celery.
8) It is important to fry until the ingredients are equally mixed. Taste a little before you add the salt, sesame oil and sugar. (Sometimes the tao cheo's saltiness and turnip's natural sweetness is enough that you do not need to put too much seasoning but a dash of them is good).

2nd Attempt - Aloo Gobi

So, today I tried making Aloo Gobi again since I have some time to spare this weekend and I still have some potatoes in the fridge. So, after work, I drove myself to 1 Utama, sent my car for a bath and went groceries shopping, more like Aloo Gobi shopping. Bought a huge China Cauliflower from Jusco for only RM3 and more potatoes. And I took a stroll along the spice rack. I noticed they had Garam Masala but actually my dear friend Ashwini had told me earlier that I could get it from Tesco or any Indian shops. But maybe its because of my luck, I found it FINALLY! And of course I bought it. Here's a picture of what turned up. Its pretty dry don't you think? I think I should have a little more gravy in it but hey, thumbs up! I'm almost there! Just need to adjust a little with the water quantity. But seriously, I took a bite and I was in heaven. This dish is awesome! Maybe I should call it Fried Cauliflower & Potatoes in lots of Indian spices. Hehehe...I shall not write down the recipe as its pretty much similar to the one yesterday except for I added Cumin Seeds (Jintan Putih) and replaced Masala Mix with Garam Masala. I'm planning to try again tomorrow so I guess its a week filled with cauliflower and potatoes for my diet.

Goodbye Biscuits!Crackers!Chips!

An Introductory Note

Well, as you can see, this is my 2nd blog which I've just decided to start today. But this isn't just a blog with my writing in it. It is a blog, inspired by a true friend, who had helped me pretty much over the last couple of days I've spent with him. What can I say is that he has inspired me to start blogging, or more importantly to start cooking. I do admit that I don't cook. I have never touched a pan before and I don't even know how to use a can opener. And yeah, you could just call be a USELESS BITCH!

But I'm not here to be a chef or a masterchef or to even be at par with Gordon Ramsey. I just want to be able to make meals for myself. Being a working woman isn't easy at all, especially when I have to cope with traffic, tonnes of e-mails, my office work as well as my personal stuff. I wake up at 6.00am, off to work at 7.00am, start working at 8.00am, finishes at 5.00pm, runs off to my 2nd job at 6.00pm, end my 2nd job at 8.00pm and by the time I'm home, it would be about 9.00pm. Then, I will take my shower and pfftt!! I'm in front of the computer again, typing on one hand while holding a cracker on the other. And the day repeats itself...

So this friend comes along and gives me a few ideas on what I can pull off in less than 5 minutes or so, which is way healthier and filling. No names mentioned here as to who he is but I'm sure he will know who he is once he reads this blog.

Therefore, I dedicate this blog to you *****
